Exciting projects exploring all sorts of different questions from service works

„service provider of the future – Smart Homes“: Service Design lectureship at the School of Design, Schwäbisch Gmünd in cooperation with Deutsche Telekom
The summer semester started and we are again supervising a service design project in the Process Design department at the Schwäbisch Gmünd School of Design together with an interdisciplinary lecturer team. This time in cooperation with the Creation Centre of Deutsche Telekom.
The project will focus on smart solutions in automatically homes. There have been first approaches for smart solutions but now due to the new technological developments during the last years a concrete market and the demand for offers that not just serve the needs of lead users but are available and affordable for everyone are coming up. The real user needs however are not identified yet and therefore a exciting field opens up that wants to be captured.
How could intelligent combinations of products and services look like to provide solutions that are suited to daily use? Or does totally new, groundbreaking services have to be devised? The students will deal with those and other questions during the next weeks to develop visionary, customer focused services around "smart homes".
We are looking forward to our weeks and work with the students and report more in September.

Service Design lectureship at the School of Design, Schwäbisch Gmünd in cooperation with the city of Norden
As a guest lecturer at the Schwäbisch Gmünd School of Design, Annika Hertz is supervising a service design project in the Process Design department. The students are familiarising themselves with service design and its practical uses. The project is supported by the city of Norden, who would like to improve the service quality of their administration department both internally and externally.
The student project focuses on two concrete issues. One looks at how to improve the work of ‘Quality Coaches’ through new services, and the other investigates how communication between the different departments could be more transparent.
